                                         William Shakespeare
                            by Jack

William Shakespeare was born in Stratford, England, on 23 April 1564. At school, he developed a talent for acting. He went to the local grammar school therefore he was very clever and amazing at acting. For many years, he nursed ambitions acting and practised a lot. Sadly, (for Shakespeare) his dad wanted him to follow his footsteps by becoming the mayor of Stratford.

An incredibly talented pupil, Shakespeare went to London after marrying Anne Hathaway. He also realised that acting wasn't really his thing and decided to become a playwright and a poet. After a lot of writing,
William had three children Sussana, Hamnet and Judieth (Judieth and Hamnet were twins). Relieved, Shakespeare, finally performed at the Globe (Henry V) . Unfortunately, a terrible plague struck London and sickness occurred. Also, the theatres were closed down preventing any plays to be performed.

In 1598, a new theatre was built (The Globe). People had to pay 1 shilling to get the same seats. These people were called 'Groundlings' because they stood up in the open space on the floor: they stank! Incredibly, many of his plays are still performed today. Sadly,The Globe roof (which was thatched) was burned down in
1613 during a performance of Henry V.

After all those years of playwriting, William Shakespeare came to an end. He died 23 April (his birthday) 1616 at the age of 52 (he died in a pub toilet) .People, believe he died of typhus.Throughout his life, he wrote 37 plays and 154 sonnets.
